IMG_7631_JPG_87bhldw_partialCommon Sense. Common Values.

Gene McLaurin was born and raised in Richmond County. He was educated here and reared his children here. He represents working class values of everyday hard-working North Carolinians.

Gene represents District 25 (Anson, Rowan, Richmond, Scotland, and Stanly counties) in the North Carolina Senate.  He serves on the Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources, Appropriations on Natural and Economic Resources, Commerce, Finance, Insurance, Pensions & Retirement and Aging, and State and Local Government Committees.

Gene has dedicated his life to making our communities stronger. As a businessman for over 30 years, he knows how to create jobs and manage a payroll. As mayor for 15 years, he also understands what it means to be a good steward of taxpayer dollars. McLaurin has combined his experiences in both the private and public sectors to broaden the tax base, live within your means, and be fiscally responsible without raising taxes. Gene knows how to work together to build a consensus, to solve problems and be proactive in meeting community needs.

He and his wife Donna have three children and two grandchildren.
